JAMFIT - Jamaica's Online
Health and Fitness Magazine
JAMFIT is an organization formed in 1998 and was
established to improve the health and fitness industry in
Jamaica. JAMFIT is comparable to IDEA and AFAA (America
Fitness and Aerobic Association) in the USA. JAMFIT will
serve Jamaica’s health and fitness needs with
conventions, fitness shows, music, seminars, newsletters
and ongoing health and fitness information.
JAMFIT FITNESS SHOW is a
thirty-(30) minute exercise program on TVJ. Our qualified
fitness professionals range from Certified Aerobics
Instructors, Personal Trainers, Toe Bo Instructors,
Nutritionist, Dance Instructors and Theatre Performers.
This dynamic mix of talent and experience are put
together to produce an informative, fresh and exciting
exercise program, which airs Monday to Friday at 6 am and
rebroadcast at 1:30 pm.
With development of JAMFIT One to One, we are able to
reach the nation every morning through television,
providing viewers with professional health tips. There
are guest participants and exercise programs such as Tae
Bo, Reggae/Socaerobics, Yoga and Latin that viewers enjoy
and follow consistently on a day-to-day basis.
JAMFIT FITNESS EXPO is an annual health and fitness
convention. In it's fifth year, JAMFIT provides
workshops, seminars and lectures by Local and
International Instructors. Demonstrations and in dept
information are given by gyms island-wide. There is an
annual Aerobic Marathon and Step Competition. All types
of health and fitness products are on display in the form
of booths.
JAMFIT/Ministry of Health NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
CHEERLEADING COMPETITION was launched in January 2003. It
is an annual competition and in its second year. We have
thirty-eight (38) High Schools competing for a
prestigious trophy and numerous monetary prizes.
This competition has generated much publicity and
nation-wide enthusiasm
JAMFIT- WEB SITE was officially launched in July 2003.
About Karelle Ashley:
Karelle,
a Registered Nurse, is also a Certified Fitness
Instructor with the Aerobics and Fitness Association
of America (AFAA) and the American Council on Exercise
(ACE).
She has been in the Fitness Industry for twelve (12)
years and currently teaches at the Future Fitness Gym
(Hilton Kingston Hotel).
She
specialises in Step, Hip-Hop and Aerobics.
Karelle
is Co-founder and director of the Jamaica Fitness
Association (JAMFIT) which was formed in
November 1998. JAMFIT provides Jamaicans with
Conventions, Fitness Shows, Music, Seminars, and
Newsletters as well as on going health and fitness
information.
She is
also co-producer of the “JAMFIT One to One”
exercise program that is aired daily on TVJ and host
of the Health Watch News Program.
Karelle
enjoys football, softball and hockey. Her dream is to
one day put Jamaica on the map as a country on par
with the United States in Health and Fitness.
