FITT for Life Expo promises fun for the entire family
The Anthem
at Merrill Ranch FITT for Life Expo is back for its
fourth year to provide the Florence/San Tan Valley area
with a one-stop, health and fitness experience.
According to Jake Hoffman, the Fitness and Wellness
Director for Anthem at Merrill Ranch and organizer of the
event, this year's expo promises to offer something for
everybody with an increased focus on entertainment as
well as fitness. "The average health and wellness expo
just isn't that exciting," he said. "We've flipped that
model on its head and made it more entertaining."
The FITT for Life Expo will offer all of the standard
expo fare. Vendors for a wide range of health related
products will be hawking their wares and professionals
will be presenting fitness and cooking demonstrations and
lectures. However, the event has stretched the content
boundaries, and those less interested in health and
wellness will still have plenty to do. The event includes
and art expo as well as a Classic Car and motorcycle show
featuring members of Club Route 66.
For the youth there is the FITT Kids Playground featuring
an extreme obstacle course, a youth fitness contest and
numerous games. For children who like to take it easy
there will be an arts and crafts area and a petting zoo.
New this year, there will be a number of roving
entertainers including a unicycling juggler a magician
and a caricature artist providing free mementoes to
families of their day together. Adults looking for a
little fun can check out the beer garden and the adult
game demos and open play.
The Florence Police Department will be on site to provide
demonstrations and operate a prescription drug turn in
and the Florence Hospital at Anthem has donated a limited
number of flu shots to be administered free of charge.
The event will also offer free and low cost health
screenings and Mobile Onsite Mammography will preform
mammograms at the expo. Women who wish to be screened are
asked to make an appointment and bring an insurance card
and medical info to the screening. For more information,
call 480-967-3767
United Blood Services will also be on hand collecting
donations for their blood drive. Current donors are
encouraged to go to www.BloodHero.com and enter the
sponsor code SCAMerrillRanch. Those who wish to donate
but are not current donors can use the site to schedule a
donation time.
Event organizer Jake Hoffman explained that the expo is
as helpful to vendors as it is to those who are looking
to lead healthier lives. "The further out [from Phoenix]
you get, the harder it is to network," he said. "The
event gives Pinal County residents a free opportunity to
come out and see what local businesses have to offer."
The AMR FITT for Life Expo will take place Nov. 13, 2010,
from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 3925 N. Sun City Blvd. in
Florence, AZ. Limited vendor and sponsorship space is
still available. A sponsorship includes booth space and a
logo presence online and at the expo. For more
